Single Target Healing — Recounterpoint

I STILL Want my Two Dollars!

I may have to mail something over to World of Logs to see if they are considering calculating Renewed Hope prevention, as I noted in my post here.

Note to self:

  1. When evaluating numbers from 6/09/09, manually add in Renewed Hope.
  2. Sigh, lamenting that it’s not done for me.
  3. Feel ego boost after looking at new numbers.
  4. Sprain arm when patting self on back.

World Of Logs logs from 06/09/09

From VoA - http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/bH0c5VoElBbuck0C/sum/healingDone/?s=0&e=1481

From Ulduar -http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/oa6qi1aa31OgJ0CY/sum/healingDone/?s=0&e=8106

I’m going to hold off on doing analysis on the data until tomorrow on one of my breaks or maybe lunch.

For now, I will simply bask in, what looks to me, like I was actually #1 on VoA.

Sure, people probably weren’t taking it seriously, it IS VoA … but I maintain a sense of pride, deserved or not. :)

World of Logs + Excel = the Awesome

The BIG problem I’m running into right now is that all of these logging services are reporting the number of times PoH, PoM, Penance, etc are HITTING a target for more than 0 dmg.

Well, that’s not helpful when I want to run some real HPS or HPM numbers.

One PoH could hit 0-10 targets (if you count pets).  If two party members are dead, it will only ‘hit’ 3 … but if the group is alive and there’s a pet, it will hit 6!

So I’m playing with … WORLD OF LOGS -> YOUR LOG OF CHOICE -> LOG QUERY -> LOG BROWSER

It’s letting me directly query my log, there is a GUI but the generated query I’m working with right now is

[{"spellNames": ["Prayer of Healing"], “eventTypes”: [3, 6], “sourceNames”: ["Anki"]}]

You can try it yourself Here.  Caps Matters!  ‘anki’ will get you nothing, you need ‘Anki’.  Same for spells.  Use copy/paste butons to play with the raw query line.

More to come as I start to analyze using the default reports in World of Logs and also the query.

As a quick aside, why do I think this is important?

Well, I think it’s important to see the numbers for how your spells are actually working for.  Theorycrafting is all well and good, but if you overheal 80% of your Penance or PoH, it changes the numbers radically!  And, it should change my behaviour radically to match!

Ohhhh … World of Logs?

Saw Matticus’s twitter on World of Logs, so I uploaded the same log I sent to WoW Meter Online to it

Impressive … most impressive…

Ahh, the holy grail is in sight!

I’m extremely excited about WoW Meter Online.  I uploaded my combatlog (same way you do with WWS), and I’ve taken a few moments to look at the data.  I’m extremely pleased with how they’re reporting Shield and Aegis.  I choose to assume these numbers are reasonably accurate, largely because it pleases me to do so.

I’ve also downloaded the Recount prevention addon mentioned in an earlier post where I linked to … I think Matticus’ site?  I have yet to try that but I hope that it will give me some good on-the-fly numbers to help me adjust mid-raid.

Some of the data I’m definitely suprised by…

Our Druid, who is extremely talented, does roughly the same HPS as I do, he’s just vastly more efficient, with far less overhealng.  That may simply be the nature of HoT’s, but it’s worth looking at.

My overhealing is a bit ‘better’ than my Paladin ‘cousins’, but their HPS is much higher.

The question is, how do I become more efficient?

I’ve been entirely ignoring renew, I don’t even have it keybound anymore.  Is that wise?  I’m not so sure anymore.  Theorycrafting and then Live Testing to follow.

Oh, and I need to cast PoM more.  Will need to look into a mod to nudge me when my cooldowns finish in general.

WoW Meter Online, upload #1

Research lead me first to http://www.mmo-champion.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=47146.0

And the answer seems to be … no, there’s not really a way.

/sigh/

However WWS still looks like a nicer way for me to share my healing other than recount…

Amen!

WWS to the rescue … maybe?

Recount finally pushed my button one too many times, and I broke down and did my research on http://wowwebstats.com/

As far as I can see the steps are

  1. Enter Ulduar
  2. Type /combatlog
  3. Dispense healing awesomeness
  4. Type /combatlog
  5. Leave Ulduar
  6. Upload to WWS through their java client
  7. Evaluate data all kinds of cool ways
  8. Profit
